Mason County Central’s Mount Heading to Davenport

SCOTTVILLE – Mason County Central three-sport athlete Ryan Mount inked his National Letter of Intent on Wednesday to continue his football career at Davenport in the fall.

Mount, who has excelled in basketball and finished runner-up in the high jump at the 2016 MHSAA Division 3 state finals, played at wide receiver and linebacker for the Spartans.

Choosing Davenport because he felt it was the best fit, Mount led Mason County Central to a 3-6 mark in 2016 and a 7-4 playoff season in 2015, which saw the Spartans post their first postseason win since 2006.

Recruited by a number of NCAA Division I and Division II schools, Mount heads to a Davenport program that is entering its second year of existence and is preparing to transition from NAIA to NCAA Division II. Davenport, which went 6-5 in 2016, will be a member of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in the fall.
