Newberry’s Paramski Signs NLI with Michigan Tech
NEWBERRY – Newberry two-way senior starter John Paramski signed his National Letter of Intent on Wednesday to continue his football career at Michigan Technological University in the fall.
A 2016 Associated Press Division 7-8 Second Team All-Stater at quarterback, Paramski also started at middle linebacker, leading the Indians to their third consecutive Division 8 district appearance. With a 16-14 win over Gaylord St. Mary in a pre-district contest, the Indians, who went 8-3 in 2016, claimed the program’s first playoff win since 2004.
"Newberry has been very good to me. I’ve learned a lot,” Paramski said. “It’s good to have small town people around you. You learn lessons that would not learn in other places in bigger schools"
Expected to play at linebacker or defensive back for the Huskies, Paramski will leave Newberry as the program’s all-time leader in tackles, scoring, rushing and passing.
"That’s why we are here today….celebrating his accomplishments with him being able to go on and play football at the next level,” Newberry coach Fred Bryant said.
Paramski will join a Michigan Tech program that went 4-6 in 2016 and finished 10th in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
