Ferris State Preps for GLIAC Semifinals

BIG RAPIDS – The top-seeded Ferris State men’s basketball team continues its quest to repeat as Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference champions as it host the league tournament semifinals and finals this weekend.

A year after advancing to the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional championship, the Bulldogs (25-4, 18-3) secured their first regular season championship this winter since the 2010-11 season.

After rallying for an 87-84 win over Hillsdale Tuesday in quarterfinal play, Ferris State will take on Michigan Tech (16-13, 13-8) Saturday in a semifinal. The second semifinal pits Ashland against Findlay.

"It’s pretty tough to beat a team three times in one season,” senior Quentin Ruff said. “We’ve just got to buckle down and take our game to another level, you know… And just run them off the line, because they’re a three-point threat."

"They take care of the ball really well,” added coach Andy Bronkema. “They don’t turn it over.  So, they present a lot of problems, and two very close games… and probably going to be a… I mean, I don’t want it to be, but it’s probably going to be another really close game.”
