Local Teams Compete in Swim and Dive Finals
Local swimmers and divers placed in their respective divisions of the 2017 MHSAA Boys Swim and Dive Championships.
In Division 3, Ludington finished tied for 28th place with 11 total points, while Manistee finished in 34th with six points.
Ludington’s Austin Ernst had a strong showing in the Boys 1-meter Diving, finishing in 8th place with a finals score of 401.55. Campbell Kolk placed 11th for the Chippewas.
Manistee’s Ben Miller finished in 38th place of the Boys 200-yard Freestyle prelims. Ludington’s Ryan Ruba finished in 43rd place of the race, while Kaleb Hatch was shortly behind him in 46th place. Manistee’s Noah Antal finished in 47th place of the same prelim.
In the Boys 500-yard Freestyle, Miller was in 29th, while Ruba finished the prelim in 39th place.
In the 200-yard Freestyle Relay, Ludington and Manistee finished in 25th and 26th respectively. Caleb Schoon, Hatch, Ruba, and Luke Snyder were on the Ludington team, while Antal, Caden Schmutzler, Ben Miller and Logan Schmutzler were on Manistee.
In the 400-yard Freestyle Relay prelims, Manistee finished in 20th with the same group, while Ludington was in 26th place with Ryan and Jared Ruba, Hatch and Snyder.
Logan Scmutzler completed the 100-yard Freestyle prelims in 26th place.
In the 200-yard Medley Relay, Manistee had a 26th place finish in the prelims led by A.J. Reau, Chase Reid, Nathaniel Urban and Logan Schmutzler.
In Division 2, Lakeview was in 32nd place with three points. Chaz Lumpkin finished in 14th in the 200-yard IM with a finals time of 1:59.65. In the Boys 200-yard Medley Relay, the team of Chaz Lumpkin, Jake Belmore, Dell Jackson and Joe Frank completed the prelims in 28th place.
