Vander Laan, Lampman Discuss NFL Experience
BIG RAPIDS – A pair of Ferris State football graduates are preparing for their second season in the NFL.
Two-time Harlon Hill Trophy winner Jason Vander Laan and wide receiver Jake Lampman were recently back on the Big Rapids campus and discussed their first fall of professional football.
Vander Laan was on the New York Jets’ practice squad after making the transition from quarterback to tight end, while Lampman spent the season on the New Orleans Saints’ active roster, recording six tackles.
"It was a really unique, and really fun experience for me to be around guys like Drew Brees and Marc Ingram, you know, guys you’d look up to when you’re younger, and now you’re in the same locker room,” Lampman said.
This offseason, Vander Laan signed a two-year extension with the Jets.
"I didn’t really know where my NFL future was going to lead me. But, it’s good to be back now, now that I’ve got a team to go back to,” Vander Laan said. “I’m just excited for next year.”
