Clare Sweeps Beaverton to Clinch JPC Title
CLARE – The fourth-ranked Clare baseball team clinched the Jack Pine Conference title outright with a sweep of Beaverton on Tuesday.
Trailing 3-2 after three innings in the opener, the Pioneers (21-4) pushed three runs across the plate in the bottom of the fourth.
With the game tied at 5-5 in the bottom of the seventh, Jeff Allen came through with a three-run walk-off home run to give Clare an 8-5 victory. It was Allen’s first career home run.
In the nightcap, the Pioneers posted a 4-3 win.
Clare welcomes in Roscommon on Thursday, while Beaverton hosts Farwell.
