Ferris State’s Bronkema Named BCAM Coach of the Year

BIG RAPIDS – McBain native and Ferris State men’s basketball coach Andy Bronkema has been named the 2017 Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan State Men’s College Coach of the Year, the school announced Tuesday.

Bronkema led the Bulldogs to an historic 2016-17 campaign that saw Ferris State win the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Regular Season and Tournament championships and reach the NCAA Division II postseason for the third straight year.

Bronkema also was the recipient of the GLIAC Coach of the Year and National Association of Basketball Coaches Midwest Region Coach of the Year awards and was recently named Ferris State’s College of Education and Human Services Distinguished Alumni Award. 

In three seasons with the Bulldogs, Bronkema owns a 75-24 overall record.
