Julie Bardenhagen giving Hope a chance

LELAND – Leland senior Julie Bardenhagen thought she might be attending a larger university in the fall, ending her volleyball career.

But some late interest gave her a chance to explore her older brother’s alma mater, Hope College.

"After I did a tour there, I decided I really liked it, and the people there, wanted me there.  And I wasn’t like just a number, that I would’ve been at a bigger university,” said Bardenhagen.  “And after talking to coach Becky Schmidt, I kind’ve made my decision after that.”

This past Thursday, Bardenhagen signed on to play volleyball for the Flying Dutch.  The program won a National Championship in 2014, shortly before Bardenhagn and her Comets teammates claimed a Class D State Championship.
