Traverse City Beach Bums Top Crushers in Home Opener
TRAVERSE CITY – Kramer Champlin pitched a solid seven innings and the Traverse City Beach Bums opened their 2017 home season with 4-1 win over the Lake Erie Crushers at Wuerfel Park on Friday.
Champlin allowed just one earned run on five hits while striking out three and walking one.
Kendall Patrick broke open the scoring in the bottom of the second on a double to left field, scoring Elijah Trail.
Still leading 1-0 through three innings, the Beach Bums (3-4) pushed three more runs across the plate on a two-run double by Trail and an RBI single from Giancarlo Brugnoni.
Jake Ezell pitched the final two innings in relief to earn the save. Ezell struck out while not allowing a hit.
The two teams meet again Saturday at 7:05 p.m.
