Red Wings Returning to Traverse City
The Detroit Red Wings announced Thursday that they will return to Traverse City’s Centre Ice Arena this summer for the organization’s annual Development Camp, NHL Prospect Camp and Training Camp.
The Development Camp is set for July 7-11 and will feature drafted or signed Red Wings prospects and 2017 NHL Draft selections. All practice sessions are open to the public, with a schedule and roster to be released at a later date. Admission each day is $5.
The NHL Prospect Tournament will take place Sept. 8-12 at Centre Ice Arena. Returning for its 19th season, the eight-team tournament will feature the Red Wings, Carolina Hurricanes, Chicago Blackhawks, Columbus Blue Jackets, Dallas Stars, Minnesota Wild, New York Rangers and St. Louis Blues.
The tournament will have two four-team divisions competing in a round robin format for the Matthew Wuest Memorial Cup. The tournament champion will be crowned on Tuesday, Sept. 12.
The 2017-18 Red Wings Training Camp is set for Sept. 15-18 at Centre Ice Arena. With practices and scrimmages taking place throughout the camp, the Training Camp Alumni and Celebrity Game will take place on Saturday, Sept. 16 at 7 p.m., with the annual Red and White Game happening on Monday, Sept. 18 at noon.
In addition, the 19th Training Camp Golf Classic is set for Thursday, Sept. 14 at the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa. Proceeds from the event will benefit Involved Citizens Enterprise and will include silent and live auction featuring sports memorabilia and vacation packages.
