Beach Bums fall to Freedom in series opener

TRAVERSE CITY – Jordan Brower’s 3-run home run in the second inning gave the Florence Freedom a lead it would not relinquish, as they defeated the Traverse City Beach Bums 4-3 on Tuesday night.

On a night when they would "welcome home" veterans prior to the game, the Beach Bums would close within a run on two different occasions, but couldn’t rally to tie the score in the late innings.  Alexis Rivera led the Beach Bums’ attack, going 3-for-5 with a pair of RBI, while Will Kengor chipped in with a 2-for-5 night with an RBI and a run scored.

Augie Gallardo suffers the loss for Traverse City to fall to 3-4 on the season.  Jordan Kraus earns the win for Florence to improve to 7-3.

Traverse City sends John Havird to the mound for game two of the series on Wednesday night, to face off with Cody Gray for the Freedom.
