Mt. Pleasant’s Hill Enjoys Stint with Whitecaps
GRAND RAPIDS – Following a successful baseball career at Mt. Pleasant High School and the University of Michigan, Evan Hill got drafted by the Detroit Tigers in 2016.
He recently got promoted to the West Michigan Whitecaps, where he has pitched five games as a reliever.
“I kinda didn’t expect to be here. So I got called up from Extended [Spring Training], I was pretty happy about that,” Hill said. “I was just excited for the opportunity.”
Hill enjoys playing for an organization that allows him to be close to home.
“It’s exciting to see familiar faces in the stands, you know. And it’s nice to have a little support, a little hometown crowd behind you,” Hill said. “When people find out that you’re from close to the area, and they can relate a little bit to those leagues that you played in or those high schools you played at, you kinda get a little home field advantage it seems like.”
