Bellaire Returns Veteran Squad

BELLAIRE – The Bellaire football program enters 2017 after finishing with a 3-6 record last season and missing out on the 8-player postseason for the second straight year.

The Eagles featured a young squad last season, starting three freshmen, but return plenty of experience.

Bellaire’s coaching staff has preached to their players that 2017 can be their year.

“At the end of the year last year, we told the boys the last time we were together, we actually told them to forget about the fact that we finished 3-6 because that wasn’t necessarily what was on our mind,” coach Brock Robinson said. “We were looking at the growth and the progress.”

The Eagles graduated just one senior a year ago and have seven starters returning to both sides of the ball.

“I think this is our year we can finally run a full scout team defense and really help our scout team offense get ready for games, and it’s nice to be able to get a breather, too,” senior Hunter Putz said.

Bellaire travels to Pickford on Friday, Aug. 25.
