Cadillac Eyes Deep Postseason Run

CADILLAC – The Cadillac football team enjoyed a bounce-back season a year ago, reaching the playoffs in its second season under coach Cody Mallory.

After going 2-7 in 2015 and seeing their postseason streak snapped at six straight seasons, the Vikings rebounded for a 6-4 campaign under a new offense. Cadillac won five of its first six games, before closing out its Big North Conference slate with losses to Traverse City Central and Traverse City West.

“Last year’s group made the playoffs and the expectation is that, you know, that’s the norm,” Mallory said. “It shouldn’t be a noteworthy thing. It should be the norm. That’s what we’re pushing towards.”

The Vikings have a solid group returning this fall, including a majority of their starters on the front line.

“We always talk about playoffs. We always want to make playoffs,” senior Kegan Brooks said. “Conference is going to be hard this year. We know that. We’re going to try to gut every game out that we can.”

Cadillac welcomes in Big Rapids on Thursday, Aug. 24.
