Cheboygan Showing Progress as 2017 Begins

CHEBOYGAN – After three straight losing seasons, the Cheboygan football team is beginning to see progress under third-year coach Dave Schulz.

Following eight postseason appearances in 10 years, the Chiefs took a step back in 2014 and have gone a combined 5-21 since.

With more than 25 players on the varsity and better than 30 on the JV program, Cheboygan is continuing to build for the future as it tackles a difficult Northern Michigan Football League Legends division.
“There’s progress,” Schulz said. “Our progress need to be in the consistency in how we play and how we handle ourselves in the offseason with making sure we’re developing and improving ourselves… Everybody’s doing it the right way and nobody’s cutting corners. It just takes time.”

Cheboygan opens its season at Sault Ste. Marie on Friday, Aug. 25.
