Harbor Springs Building off Successful 2016
HARBOR SPRINGS – After reaching the postseason for the first time in more than a decade last season, the Harbor Springs football program looks to carry the momentum over to 2017.
The Rams posted their best finish last season since last making the playoffs in 2000, going 5-5 and winning five of their final seven games after opening the year at 0-3.
Harbor Springs was the surprise team in the Northern Michigan Football League Legacy division last fall, finishing runner-up to St. Ignace. With the exception of a 56-20 loss to the champion Saints, the Rams maneuvered through the league schedule with relative ease, outscoring their remaining five opponents 212-52.
“We’re going to take it one week at a time, the potential is yet to be determined,” coach Rob Walker said. “I’m kind of from a place where you can always do it. So we just got to know our job, do our job, and we’ll be just fine. We’ll see where it ends.”
Last year’s 5-5 campaign was the first time the Rams had finished .500 or better since 2000.
Harbor Springs welcomes in Muskegon Heights on Friday, Aug. 25.
