McBain Sets Sights on Highland Title

MCBAIN – With experience on its side, the McBain football program is looking to get back on track and compete for a Highland Conference title in 2017.

After posting three straight wins over Manistee, Kingsley and Evart to open 2016, the Ramblers stumbled in the final six weeks, dropping five of their remaining six games.

The Ramblers have an experienced quarterback under center and hope to get back into the playoffs for the second time in three seasons after winning a Division 7 district title in 2015.

“It’s real exciting, you know the first two-a-days are just a lot of energy and a lot of enthusiasm,” coach Pat Maloney said. “It’s just started and we know that upcoming scrimmages and games are real close now vs. summer stuff you know, you’re waiting and waiting for this time. So now is the moment. And it feels great. You know a lot of passing, just trying to incorporate the passing game allows us to complement our running game, emphasize catching the ball and getting yards after the catch, timing with the receivers and quarterbacks.”

McBain hosts Manistee on Thursday, Aug. 24.
