Roscommon Building off Historic Season
ROSCOMMON – The Roscommon football program fielded one of its most impressive teams in recent history a year, posting nine wins for the first time since going 10-2 in 2006.
The Bucks won their first six games en route to a 9-2 season and an opening playoff win over rival Houghton Lake.
Roscommon is now looking to take the next step this fall.
“Everything that we did for 9-2 last year we worked for it, we earned it, and we’re going to do the same exact thing this year,” senior Jack Boyle said. “We have a few returning seniors that I expect to be great leaders, and a lot of juniors that are, they’re young, but they have a lot of talent.”
With 11 starters returning from last year’s Jack Pine Conference runner-up squad, Roscommon will be leaning on a veteran offensive line that includes three returning starters, to lead the way in 2017.
“The interest in school is definitely there and more kids out and interested in football, and winning does that,” coach Steve Clements said. “Winning will definitely bring more kids out.”
Roscommon visits Grayling on Thursday, Aug. 24.
