Central Michigan Drops MAC Opener to Miami (OH)

MT. PLEASANT – Central Michigan football dropped its Mid-American Conference opener on Saturday in a 31-14 loss to Miami (OH) at home.

The RedHawks jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter, led by quarterback Gus Ragland. He capped off the opening drive with a 6-yard touchdown run and then ended the quarter with a 3-yard touchdown pass to Quentin Hardy.

Central Michigan responded at the start of the second quarter, with Shane Morris rushing it in from two yards out. Morris ended the game with 195 passing yards, one touchdown pass and two interceptions.

The Chippewas failed to score in the second half. They will take on Boston College next Saturday, on the road at 1 p.m.
