Newaygo Holds off Big Rapids in CSAA Action

BIG RAPIDS – Newaygo moved to 3-2 overall with a 34-27 win over CSAA Gold foe Big Rapids on Friday.

The two teams were tied at 6-6 after the first quarter, with Newaygo taking a 27-6 lead to the fourth.

Connor Swineheart led the Lions with 124 yards and three scored on 27 carries, while rushed for 164 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries.

Jayden Mason was 6-of-13 for 139 yards and a touchdown for Big Rapids.

Big Rapids (2-3, 2-2) visits Central Montcalm next Friday, while Newaygo (3-2, 2-2) hosts Fremont.
