Week 4 of the high school football season in northern Michigan saw Beaverton get out to its first 4-0 start since 1984, while Pickford had its second highest scoring output since moving to 8-man in 2015.
By the Numbers
12 – The number of area programs still undefeated after Week 4. Traverse City West, Morley Stanwood, Lake City, Beaverton, Gaylord St. Mary, Boyne City, Grayling, Traverse City St. Francis, Cedarville, Pickford, Onekama and Central Lake are all 4-0.
16 – Area teams still seeking their first win. Fremont, Hesperia, Tri-County, White Cloud, Pine River, Farwell, Gladwin, Mio, Mancelona, Kingsley, Hart, Shelby, Charlton Heston Academy, Pellston, Big Rapids Crossroads and Grand Traverse Academy are still searching for win No. 1.
78 – Points scored by Pickford in a 78-8 Bridge Alliance win over visiting Charlton Heston Academy last Thursday. Through four games this fall, the third-ranked Panthers have outscored opponents 219-42.
110 – Combined points scored in Sanford Meridian’s 74-36 win over Roscommon. The win was the second straight for the Mustangs, who improved to 2-0 in the Jack Pine Conference.
1984 – The last time Beaverton started a season at 4-0. After making the playoffs last year for the first time since 2000 and only the second time in program history, the Beavers have outscored league foes 103-31.
