TC West’s Wooer Recognized by Detroit Lions

Traverse City West’s Tim Wooer has been selected by the Detroit Lions as the Week 3 recipient of the 2017 Farm Bureau Insurance of Michigan High School Coach of the Week program.

After ending a four-game losing streak to rival Traverse City Central in the annual Patriot Game last Friday, Wooer and the Titans are off to a 3-0 start and are ranked ninth in Division 1.

Wooer is in his 26th season coaching football and 23rd as a head coach. The veteran coach began his head coaching career at Farwell (1995-98) before moving on to Kingsley (1999-2007), where he led the Stags to 2005 Division 6 state championship. He has been at West since 2008 and sports a career record of 139-84.

Now in its 21st year, the Detroit Lions High School Coach of the Week program awards a $2,000 donation to the recipient’s football program and a sideline kit. All winners receive a certificate signed by Lions coach Jim Caldwell and NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, as well as a personalized game ball and acknowledgement at an upcoming home game. The season’s Coach of the Year will be awarded a $4,000 donation to the school’s football team and a sideline kit.
