Ferris State Tops Tiffin in Defensive Battle

BIG RAPIDS – Ferris State topped Tiffin, 13-3, in a defensive battle on Saturday at home, improving to 4-1 overall and 3-1 in conference play.

The Bulldogs’ lone touchdown came in the third quarter when Travis Russell found Jahaan Brown for a 34-yard touchdown pass.

Ferris State rode its defense to the victory, with the Bulldogs getting a huge fourth down stop on the goal line near the end of the third quarter. A touchdown would have pulled Tiffin within three points with a quarter to play.

“Most people sit and analyze football, and they’re like, ‘Boy, that was an ugly game,’” Ferris State head coach Tony Annese said. “Well, it was a great game by our defense, so I’m gonna keep the focus on them, and say, you know, the defense was top notch.”

Wyatt Ford had a pair of 27-yard field goals.

Ferris State next plays at Saginaw Valley State on Saturday, Oct. 14, with a 3 p.m. kickoff.
