No. 16 Ludington Edges Big Rapids for Regional Title

CLARE – The 16th-ranked Ludington boys soccer team captured a Division 3 regional championship with a 2-0 win over Big Rapids on Thursday.

Ben Knoer gave the Orioles a 1-0 lead at the half, with Brayden Porter scoring in the second half to put the game ice.

“We kinda knew what we had coming back,” Ludington coach Kris Anderson said. “We dropped back to D3, and we knew hey, we have a legitimate shot, but we’ve got to work for it. It’s not going to come easy, and tonight wasn’t easy.”

Ludington will now face No. 4 Grand Rapids South Christian in a state semifinal at Cedar Springs at 6 p.m. Wednesday. The Sailors handed Dowagiac a 5-1 loss in a regional final on Thursday.
