No. 5 Boyne City Rallies Late to Top No. 1 St. Francis

BOYNE CITY – Division 5 fifth-ranked Boyne City captured its first NMFL Legends title since 2014 with a thrilling 19-13 win over Division 7 No. 1 Traverse City St. Francis on Friday.

Trailing 13-12 and facing a fourth-down and 5 with 24 seconds remaining in regulation, Ethan Hewitt found Dillon Sulak for the go-ahead score on the fake field goal play.

The Ramblers (9-0, 7-0) carried a 12-0 lead to the second quarter and led 12-7 after three.

Ethan Hills was 4-of-12 for 67 yards for the Boyne City.

Aaron Simon had 11 carries for 50 yards and a score for St. Francis (8-1, 6-1), while Teddy Prichard had 17 rushes for 21 yards and a score.

Both teams will now wait until Sunday to find out their first playoff opponent.
