Rogers City Outlasts Sacred Heart to Reach Battle Creek

GAYLORD – The eighth-ranked Rogers City volleyball team is headed back to Battle Creek and the state semifinals for the second straight year after posting a 3-2 win over No. 10 Mt. Pleasant Sacred Heart on Tuesday.

The Hurons won the Class D state quarterfinal by scores of 25-22, 26-24, 20-25, 22-25 and 16-14.

Winners of the 1988 Class C state championship, Rogers City fell to 3-1 to Auburn Hills Oakland Christian in last year’s semifinal appearance.

Rogers City will face defending state champion Plymouth Christian at 2 p.m. Thursday at Kellogg Arena. Plymouth Christian handed Battle Creek St. Philip a 3-1 loss on Tuesday.
