Williams Leads LSSU Men to Win over Ashland
SAULT STE. MARIE – Akaemji Williams scored 21 points and the Lake Superior State men’s basketball team opened Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play with an 82-73 win over visiting Ashland (Ohio) on Thursday.
The Lakers (6-1, 1-0) held an 11-point, 44-33 lead at the half.
Carson Manger and Malek Adams scored 14 and 12 points, respectively, off the bench for LSSU, which shot 51.8 percent (29-of-56) from the floor.
Wendell Davis paced the Eagles with 21 points.
LSSU is back in action Saturday, hosting Tiffin. First tip is slated for 3 p.m.
