TC Central’s Douglass Emerging as a Star

TRAVERSE CITY – As Traverse City Central handed rival Traverse City West a 4-2 loss in the first ‘Hockey Fights Cancer’ game on Wednesday, sophomore Charlie Douglass emerged as the game’s star.

The right winger gave the Trojans a 2-0 lead after the opening period and scored an empty-net goal in the third period to secure the win.

Wednesday’s hat trick gave Douglass an impressive 10 goals in just seven games this season.

“He’s been good for us all year,” Central coach Chris Givens said. “You know, people forget sometimes that he’s only a sophomore, because he’s such a good player. He does a lot of good things. He’s a skill guy, but he does the things that you’re asking him to do, too. He plays within the system and everything. Yeah, he had a great night for sure.”

Douglass and the Trojans put their 3-0 Big North Conference record on the line Friday night when they travel to Alpena.
