Year in Review: Fall 2017

The 2017 fall high school sports season in northern Michigan was a historic one, with the Central Lake/Ellsworth co-op football program winning its first championship.

In addition to the success Central Lake/Ellsworth enjoyed, Reed City and Lake City each captured their first regional titles and punched their tickets to the state semifinals. Pickford found itself in the 8-player state semifinals for a second straight year, and Traverse City St. Francis was in the semifinals for the second time since 2015.

On the volleyball court, Rogers City was back at Battle Creek’s Kellogg Center and the Class D state semifinals for a second consecutive season, while the Ludington boys soccer team appeared in its first state title game since winning the 2001 Division 3 state championship.
