Player Profile: Buckley’s Joey Weber

The Buckley boys soccer and basketball teams reached new heights over the last two years, and senior Joey Weber has played a key role in that success.

As a goalkeeper on the soccer team, Weber led Buckley to back-to-back Division 4 district championships and the program’s first regional title in 2017. Weber recorded five shutouts in the district and regional rounds of the 2017 postseason tournament before the Bears fell 3-1 to Kalamazoo Hackett in a state semifinal.

Weber earned Division 4 All-State Honorable Mention honors in 2016 and Division 4 All-State First Team honors in 2017 by the Michigan High School Soccer Coaches Association.

Buckley recently recognized Weber for efforts on the soccer pitch by retiring his jersey.

On the basketball court, Weber and the Bears made their first state finals appearance during the 2016-17 season, finishing with a 26-1 record and as Class D state runner-up.
