Bay Reps Fall to Marquette in Final Day of North/South Showcase

TRAVERSE CITY-The Bay Reps hockey team fell 5-2 to Marquette in an afternoon game on Saturday.

The Reps, in their second day of the Rick Deneweth Memorial Annual North/South Showcase, fell behind quickly in the first period when Joe Phillips struck for the Redmen, giving Marquette a 1-0 lead.

The Redmen didn’t let up there, Sean O’Connor was the next to find the back of the net on a wrap-around shot that snuck past goaltender Veikka Lipsanen.

Later in the first, the Reps found some momentum when Zach Van Compernolle connected on a slap shot from the point, but were behind 3-1 when they headed to the locker room after the first period.

Marquette kept their foot on the gas pedal and came out in the second with another goal from O’Conner, and later skated to a 5-2 victory.

The Bay Reps are back in action when they face Cadillac on Jan. 24th at Centre Ice Arena.
