Coaches’ Profile: Chippewa Hills’ Nate Ethridge

REMUS – Longtime Chippewa Hills wrestling coach Nate Ethridge posted his 500th career win as the Warriors cruised to a pair of Central State Activities Association wins in a home quad meet on Wednesday.

Ethridge’s 500th win came in an 81-0 victory over Big Rapids in the opening match.

Ethridge, who also serves as an assistant coach with the school’s varsity football program, began his wrestling coaching career in 2001 and entered the 2017-18 season with a 492-93 career record.

In 18 seasons, the Warriors have won 10 conference championship, 13 straight district titles, 11 regional championships and one state runner-up finish, while 33 wrestlers earned All-State honors. Ethridge has also been named regional, state and national coach of the year for Michigan.

Ethridge is the 24th coach in state history to reach 500 wins.
