Ferris State Men Rally Past Wayne State for Bronkema’s 100th Win
BIG RAPIDS – Charlevoix native Zach Hankins scored a game-high 27 points and the 10th-ranked Ferris State men’s basketball team rallied from 11-point halftime deficit for an 86-80 win over visiting Wayne State on Thursday.
Hankins was 11-of-16 from the field and a perfect 5-of-5 from the charity stripe, tallying 11 rebounds to post a double-double in Ferris State’s third straight win.
The Bulldogs (15-1, 5-1 GLIAC) trailed 44-33 at the half.

Drew Cushingberry and DeShaun Thrower joined Hankins in double figures with 16 and 10 points, respectively.
The Bulldogs shot 47.8 percent (32-of-67) from the field, outrebounding the Warriors, 41-33, while outscoring their bench 22-4. Ferris State also tallied an impressive 12 blocks and 15 points off turnovers in the league win.
Marcus Moore paced the Warriors (6-5, 4-2 GLIAC) with 25 points.
Thursday’s win also marked the 100th for head coach and McBain native Andy Bronkema.
Ferris State is back in action Saturday at Davenport. Tipoff is slated for 3 p.m.
