LSSU Men Roll Past Davenport, Move to 6-0 in GLIAC
SAULT STE. MARIE – Michael Nicholson scored 16 points and the No. 24 Lake Superior State men’s basketball team recorded an 87-66 win over visiting Davenport on Thursday.
Nicholson paced five Lakers in double figures, as LSSU improved to 6-0 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
Akaemji Williams posted a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Malek Adams and Blake Marquardt scored 13 and 12, respectively. Rog Stein also scored 10 for LSSU.
The Lakers (12-2) led 39-32 at the half.
LSSU shot 61.4 percent (35-of-57) from the field and outrebounded Davenport 34-23.
Delano Smith led Davenport (9-5, 3-3 GLIAC) with 15 points.
LSSU returns to the court Saturday at Wayne State. Tipoff is slated for 3 p.m.
