Suttons Bay Hands Bear Lake First Loss
SUTTONS BAY – The Suttons Bay boys basketball team handed Bear Lake its first loss of the season, winning 72-63 on Monday.
The Norsemen (4-6) grabbed a 21-16 lead after the first quarter but trailed 30-26 at the half.
Suttons Bay retook the lead in the third and carried a 49-44 edge to the final quarter.
“I was pretty impressed with our resiliency in the second half,” Suttons Bay coach Ron Anderson said. “You know, they made a huge shot at the end of the first half, a 3-pointer, right as the kid was defended. Our kids went in with their heads down a little bit. But, you know, we’ve had some really close, tough losses this year, and to fight back and to pull this one out was a good deal.”
Bear Lake (8-1) travels to league foe Walkerville on Wednesday, while Suttons Bay visits Buckley on Friday.
