Traverse City Central Wins Veterans’ Cup

TRAVERSE CITY – The Bay Reps hosted Traverse City Central at Centre Ice Arena Saturday in the annual Veterans’ Cup.

This event is not just a hockey game, but it also serves as a fundraiser for the Mid-Michigan Honor Flight and the Grand Traverse Area Veteran Coalition.

“It’s been fantastic. The kids play hard, it’s a good game, the patriotism is 100%. It means a lot, especially to Vietnam troops. We didn’t have a real good welcome home,” says Douglas Davis, a Vietnam Veteran.

“It’s just been a huge honor to be able to get recognized for the little bit I did for my country,” says Lucas Clark, an Afghanistan Veteran.

As for the game, the Trojans topped the Bay Reps 2-0, with their second goal coming late in the third on an empty net.
