Bay Reps Rolling Into Postseason

TRAVERSE CITY – The Bay Reps hockey program is peaking at the right time.

With a 2-1 win over Petoskey Saturday afternoon, the Bay Reps captured their third consecutive Northern Michigan Hockey League title.

Winners of three straight, and with the postseason beginning in a week, the Bay Reps like where they’re sitting.

“We found a way to win,” Bay Reps coach Ryan Fedorinchik said. “When you’re late in February, and the playoffs are right around the corner, that’s the name of the game. Find a way to win. Our last three games we’re 3-0. We’ve only give up one goal in those three games. Our penalty kill has been doing a great job. We’re starting to put it together. We talk about grinding things out. It’s never going to be easy. You’ve got to find a way. And when we’re playing well, we find a way.”

At 12-11-2, the Bay Reps have won three straight entering the postseason, with recent wins over the Tri-Valley Titans (6-0), Cheboygan (5-0) and Petoskey (2-1).

The team will host a Division 1 pre-regional and will face the winner of the Traverse City West-Muskegon Reeths-Puffer matchup on March 1. The winner of the pre-regional will advance to the regional final at Ferris State’s Ewigleben Arena on Saturday, March 3.
