Cadillac Boys Bowling Captures First Regional Title

Cadillac captured its first Division 2 regional championship on Friday, Feb. 23, 2018.

The Cadillac boys bowling team won its first Division 2 regional title with a pin total of 4,052. Competing at Monitor Lanes in Bay City, they beat Iron Mountain and two-time state champion Flint Kearsley, who both qualified to the state championship alongside Cadillac.

In Division 3, five area teams qualified for the state championships. At the regional in Cheboygan, Cheboygan won the regional title in both girls and boys. The boys finished with a pin total of 4,039, while the girls finished with a pin total of 3,369. The Gladwin boys team, with a pin total of 3,921, and the Gladwin girls team, with a pin total of 3,356, both finished second to Cheboygan to qualify to the state championships. Rounding out the top three in boys was Standish-Sterling and in girls was Ishpeming. At the regional in Wyoming, the Central Montcalm girls team finished third with a pin total of 3,208 to move on to the state final.

Six area Division 4 teams are also moving on to the state championships. Both the girls and boys teams from Rogers City took first place in the regional competition in Traverse City. The Rogers City boys won with a pin total of 3,874, while the girls won with a pin total of 3,344. On the boys side, moving on with Rogers City are Ishpeming Westwood, with a pin total of 3,765, and Houghton Lake, with a pin total of 3,530. For the girls, Oscoda, with a pin total of 3,139, and Traverse City Christian, with a pin total of 3,008, will also go to the state championships.

At the regional in Muskegon, two area girls teams finished in the top three to move on to states. Beaverton won the regional with a pin total of 3,221. Rounding out the top three are Lakeview, with a pin total of 3,157, and Ravenna with a pin total of 3,136.
