Ferris State Blows out Saginaw Valley in GLIAC Quarters

BIG RAPIDS – The Ferris State men’s basketball team rolled out to a 21-point halftime lead and never looked back in a 113-84 win over Saginaw Valley State in a GLIAC tournament quarterfinal on Wednesday.

The top seed in the tournament, the second-ranked Bulldogs (30-1) held a 52-31 lead at the half and shot 64.2 percent (43-of-67) from the floor for the game.

DeShaun Thrower paced five Bulldogs in double figures with a game-high 20 points. Markese Mayfield, Jaylin McFadden and Zach Hankins all scored 12 points, while Cole Walker tallied 10. Hankins also recorded 11 rebounds to finish with a double-double.

Ferris State will now host Ashland in the tournament semifinals at 3 p.m. Saturday.
