Six Athletes Sign from St. Francis

TRAVERSE CITY – National Signing Day took over Traverse City St. Francis on Wednesday, as six senior student-athletes signed National Letters of Intent.

Cole Julian and Aaron Smith will continue their football careers at Butler (Ind.) University and Alma College, respectively, while Jack Roop will head to Lawrence Tech and the school’s men’s soccer program.

The Gladiators are also sending a trio of baseball players onto the next level, as Casey Peterson (Dayton), Cooper Peterson (Hillsdale) and Joey Muzljakovich (Wayne State) are heading to Division I and II institutions.

For Muzljakovich, signing with Detroit’s Wayne State means moving to a big city and enjoying a campus he has grown to love.

“Definitely the atmosphere around there. The campus is great,” Muzljakovich said. “You know, I love the team. I love the coaches and everything. And it’s also really nice to know that Detroit’s on the up-and-up and they have all the sporting complex within walking distance. So it’s really nice to have that on the back burners. If I don’t know what to do.”
