CMU Men Accept CIT Bid

MT. PLEASANT – The Central Michigan men’s basketball team has accepted a bid to play in the Postseason Tournament.

The Chippewas (19-14) will take to the road and face Fort Wayne (18-14) at noon on Monday. The game will be televised on CBS Sports Network.

This marks CMU’s second CIT appearance and first since 2016, when CMU fell 76-73 to Tennessee-Martin at McGuirk Arena. It is also the third postseason appearance for the Chippewas under six-year coach Keno Davis, who has led CMU to four straight .500 or better or seasons.

“It’s exciting for our seniors to be able to continue to play and it will be good experience for those players who will return to the program next year, and it will be an opportunity for them to continue to improve individually and as a team,” Davis said in a release.

Fort Wayne finished fourth in the Summit League and faced a pair of Mid-American Conference opponents this season, falling to both Akron (83-79) and Miami (81-73).

Now in its 10th year, the CIT is a 32-team field with games being played at campus sites. As there is no bracket for the tournament, future-round opponents are determined following the results from previous rounds.
