CMU Men Outlast Bowling Green in MAC Tourney Opener

MT. PLEASANT – Cecil Williams scored 18 points and the Central Michigan men’s basketball team opened the Mid-American Conference tournament with an 81-77 overtime win over Bowling Green at McGuirk Arena on Monday.

Luke Meyer tallied 16 points and three rebounds in 34 minutes for the Chippewas (19-13), who led 32-29 at the half. Meyer was one of five Chippewas to reach double figures, as Shawn Roundtree and Kevin McKay chipped in with 15 and 14 points, respectively. David DiLeo also picked up a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Antwon Lillard and Justin Turner led the Falcons (16-16) with 17 points apiece.

The eight-seed, CMU will now face top-seed Buffalo at Cleveland’s Quicken Loans Arena on Thursday. Tipoff is set for noon.
