Ferris State Men Win Midwest Regional Title

BIG RAPIDS – The No. 2 Ferris State men’s basketball team captured the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional championship with an 80-65 win over Findlay at Jim Wink Arena on Tuesday.

With the win, Ferris State secured a spot in the Division II Elite Eight. The finals of the tournament will be held at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D., next week.

The Bulldogs (35-1) held a 36-29 lead at the half en route to the 23rd consecutive win.

Drew Cushingberry paced three Bulldogs in double figures with a game-high 21 points. DeShaun Thrower tallied 20 points in 19 minutes off the bench, while Charlevoix native Zach Hankins had 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Taren Sullivan led Findlay (28-5) with 16 points.

Ferris State will find out its quarterfinal opponent at a later date, as regional winners are reseeded.
