LSSU Men Rally Past Michigan Tech in GLIAC Semis

BIG RAPIDS – Behind a game-high 18 points from Akaemji Williams, the Lake Superior State men’s basketball team earned a 70-56 win over Michigan Tech in a GLIAC tournament semifinal on Saturday.

Williams scored 12 of his 18 points in the second half as LSSU will go for its first tournament championship since winning back-to-back in 2013-14 and 2014-15.

The Lakers (23-6) trailed 35-34 at the half of Saturday’s contest.

Tim Cairnduff joined Williams in double figures with 12 points.

Kyle Monroe led Michigan Tech (15-13) with 15 points and nine rebounds.

LSSU will face second-ranked Ferris State for the tournament title at 3 p.m. Sunday.
