Sacred Heart Headed Back to Class D Semifinals

SCOTTVILLE – For the third straight year, the Mt. Pleasant Sacred Heart girls basketball team is headed to the Class D state semifinals.

Top-ranked Sacred Heart punched its ticket to Calvin College with a 49-29 quarterfinal win over Bellaire on Tuesday.

The Irish jumped out a 17-8 lead after one quarter and led 25-12 at the half.

Bellaire was appearing in its first quarterfinal and finishes the year at 21-4.

Sacred Heart will face Adrian Lenawee Christian in a state semifinal at 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Lenawee Christian (24-1) handed Athens a 62-31 loss on Tuesday.
