Ferris State Postpones Spring Football Game, Title Celebration

BIG RAPIDS – Ferris State announced Friday that it is postponing its annual spring football game and men’s basketball NCAA Division II national championship celebration due to the potential for severe weather this weekend.

Originally scheduled for Saturday afternoon, both events will now take place on Friday, April 20, with the spring game scheduled to start at 5 p.m. at Top Taggart Field. The national championship celebration will take place at 7 p.m. at Jim Wink Arena.

“With the weather forecast this weekend, it is not in the best interests of our student-athletes, FSU students, fans, alumni and friends to hold these events on Saturday,” Ferris State Athletics Director Perk Weisenburger said in a release. “Travel is not being recommended and we determined that safety should be the biggest priority.

“We’re hopeful that moving both events to next Friday will result in much better weather and also create larger crowds for both events.”

Admission to both the spring game and national championship celebration are free and open to the public.
