Houghton Lake’s Blanchard Signs with CMU

HOUGHTON LAKE – Houghton Lake multisport athlete Jackson Blanchard signed his National Letter of Intent with Central Michigan and its track and field program on Monday.

The school’s starting quarterback, Blanchard is also a member of Houghton Lake’s basketball and golf programs.

Blanchard plans to focus on running the 110 and 400 hurdles as freshman but hopes to eventually compete in the decathlon at CMU.

“I had a lot of other options,” Blanchard said. “I just really liked the place a lot and like everybody there, Coach (Bryant) Wilson was really like welcoming, which I love that part, and it’s a really nice place. I always wanted to go to college and do a sport, at least one because I’m a pretty good athlete. I do a lot of sports, and just doing one thing in college at the collegiate level is really cool.”

Blanchard will look to defend his MHSAA Division 3 110 and 300 hurdles titles this year.
