Traverse City Central Trio Sign NLIs

TRAVERSE CITY – A trio of senior Traverse City Central track and field and cross country athletes signed their National Letters of Intent.

Tristen Szafranski and Morgan McGrew are taking their talents to Grand Valley State and the school’s men’s track and field program. The Lakers have captured five Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference titles since 2011.

“The track and field program is awesome there, too,” Szafranski said. “Their facility is great, they have a really nice indoor track there, and outdoor track is wonderful too.”

McGrew also plans to run cross country and joins and program that has won the GLIAC men’s cross country championships each year since 2002.

“They have kind of a dominant program in cross country,” McGrew said. “They always are in the top three spots in cross country nationally. They’ve won the GLIAC, I think like eighteen times and the regional just about as many. So I’m excited to continue the legacy of their team and their program.”

Fellow senior Cassidy Henshaw will travel south to Ann Arbor and attend the University of Michigan. He will compete in the decathlon.
