David’s Rink, Centre Ice Arena Renovations Continue

TRAVERSE CITY – Renovations at Centre Ice Arena in Traverse City continued Wednesday.

As of May 24, crews completed the West Rink and immediately began working on David’s Rink.

Both rinks will undergo the same renovations, including all new cap rail, glass and kevlar netting.

Renovations began because the NHL created new requirements for rinks that host NHL players.

Each year, Centre Ice Arena hosts the Detroit Red Wings Training Camp and the NHL Prospect Tournament, and wanted to keep the events in the Cherry Capital.

So far, Centre Ice has raised around $30,000, but would like to raise $110,000 by Saturday, June 2.

Executive Director Terry Marchand says, “Fundraising’s a little bit lagging. We’re really pushing, hoping, keeping our fingers crossed, and praying that we get some more funds.”

Renovations are expected to be complete by early next week.
