Harrison’s Allison Lipovsky Overcomes Adversity for Success

HARRISON — From Harrison High School to Grand Valley State University, Allison Lipovsky has fought her way to the top in softball.

Allison has been playing the game for as long as she can remember.

She was named Pitcher of the Year in 2017 and 2018, Mid-West Pitcher of the Year in 2018, and was a top-10 finalist for National Player of the Year in 2018.

But her freshman year of college, Allison was diagnosed with Thoracic Outlet Syndrome.

She underwent surgery on her right shoulder, knowing there was a 50/50 chance she would not be able to return to softball.

The surgery went well, and Allison says she came back even stronger: “There was the 50/50 chance that I wouldn’t come back the same, and I didn’t come back the same, but I came back better.”

This fall, Allison will begin her senior year at Grand Valley.
